One day to go:
Then from Publika I rushed over to Taman Seri Muda in Shah Alam district to meet up with ex #RMAF commandos who served under me in Ipoh and Alor Setar.
Basir (right most) served with me briefly in Alor Setar. He was one of the pioneer members who set up the first #HANDAU (now PASKAU) squadron: No.102 Squadron.
Mohd Zin (in orange) served with me in Ipoh and was my rifles championship teammate (also a sniper). His first comment to the rest when he saw me was, “Inilah orang yang tolong aku berubat masa aku kena santau kat Ipoh dulu sampai muntah darah.” Mohd Zin accepted the King’s Commission to serve as an officer like I.
Ramli Ahmad (in dark blue) served in the Quick Reactionary Force when I commanded No.107 Squadron HANDAU. He was promoted twice from Leading Aircraftman (Lance Corporal) to Sergeant before I handed over command of the squadron to my successor.
They are all in their late 50s now. I was the youngest in the squadron but I had to lead them.
