Kak Ziah and her husband, the late Abang Mazlan in January 2011. Abang Mazlan was with us since 1976 while Kak Ziah joined in 1978.
When Kak Ziah cooked for us, she had several suitors, all used to be in the #army and all were of Javanese descent. Their names were Senin (Monday), Selasa (Tuesday), Khamis (Thursday), Jumaat (Friday) and Sabtu (Saturday), all followed the simple Javanese naming convention.
She used to write letters to all of them and Abang Mazlan was the ine who had to mail those letters. Both Kak Ziah and Abang Mazlan were like cat and dog, always quarreling, and she hated his guts.
One day late in 1982, he decided to ask her, “Ziah, kalau kita kahwin macam mana?” (Ziah, what if we get married?). She accepted without hesitation. Then, Abang Mazlan ran the idea by me. I remember laughing out loudly because it seemed unthinkable that they would even be civil with each other. They were married early in 1983 and have three beautiful children, @teachermazz @zyra8181 and @ngallciklan .
Abang Mazlan left us all on the 8th June 2014. I miss him.
